About Sandra Benavides Caballero

Dr. Benavides Caballero is an associate professor and Assistant Dean for Assessment and Program Quality for the PCOM School of Pharmacy in Suwanee, Georgia. She received her PharmD from the University of California, San Francisco. She completed a general practice residency at the University of California, San Diego Medical Center and a Pediatric Pharmacotherapy Fellowship at the Ohio State University. She has served as a faculty member and administrator at various pharmacy programs prior to joining the PCOM School of Pharmacy.

Dr. Benavides Caballero is a specialist in the area of pediatric pharmacotherapy. She has extensive experience in the hospital, community, and ambulatory settings providing direct patient care to children and adolescents. She is the lead editor in the Pediatric Pharmacotherapy and Pediatric Pharmacotherapy Self Assessment books geared towards pharmacy students and young practitioners. She also served as an inaugural member on the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS) Pediatric Council responsible for the development of criteria and examination for board certification in pediatric pharmacy.

Dr. Benavides Caballero is active in several national organizations, notably the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (AACP), Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group (PPAG), and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. She has been elected as a fellow in both AACP and PPAG. She also serves as a peer-reviewer for numerous pharmacy and medical journals.
