Abstract

This paper reviews the rationale and objectives of the recently formed Canadian Mining Education Council (CMEC). This initiative aims to promote networking within Canada's mining schools, as well as with industry, government and communities. CMEC is developing a strategic vision for collaboration in education, research and technology development. This is reviewed in the context of many changes facing Canada's mineral resources industry in both a national and global context.
