Abstract

We found that Actigraphy is feasible in clinical practice; parents complete sleep logs in more than 70% of the nights, but use the device > 90% of nights during their 2-weeks assessments. In our sample, there was an incremental increase in identification of insufficient sleep with actigraphy, but parents over-reported circadian shifts. Actigraphy adds value to insomnia evaluation in clinical practice because parents may inaccurately report the sleep/wake schedule, leading to the wrong diagnosis and potentially inappropriate management.
