About Sally V. Drew

Sally V. Drew, Ph.D. is Program Director of Special Education and Associate Professor of Teacher Education in the Farrington College of Education and Human Development at Sacred Heart University. She has teaching experience at preschool, elementary, middle, and high school levels. Dr. Drew was recently named an American Educational Research Association Fellow for the Study of Deeper learning. Her research examines writing instruction, disciplinary literacy, and professional development and sits at the intersection of special education and general education. Her work has been published in scholarly journals including Journal of Learning Disabilities, Reading and Writing, and Journal of Educational Psychology. Dr. Drew received a bachelor's degree in communications and women's studies and a master's degree in inclusive elementary education from Syracuse University. She has a Ph.D. in educational psychology with a specialization in special education and literacy from the University of Connecticut.
