Youth maker spaces are promoted as places for getting children engaged and interested in STEM content, at times as a way to expose underrepresented groups to potential career paths. In this case study, we present data spanning three research projects over several years of one highly engaged youth and her use of a laser cutter throughout that time. Findings include factors that contributed to the youth's development of interest with the laser cutter.
