About Ruth Ramsey

Dr. Ruth Ramsey is a professor and the founding Chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy. She holds a Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from San Jose State University and a Doctorate in Education from the University of San Fransicso. She also holds Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts degrees in Dance.
Dr. Ramsey was recruited by Dominican in 1996 to develop the occupational therapy program and has since grown it to over 150 majors in two tracks; transitioned it to a graduate program; and led it through three successful national accreditations.
Dr. Ramsey practiced clinically in mental health settings with adolescents, adults and seniors. She is also very interested in issues of healthy aging. She currently sits on the Marin County Fall Prevention Task Force; has produced several CarFit events promoting safe driving for older drivers; and helped develop the Healthy Seniors program which brings older adults onto the Dominican campus to work with occupational therapy students and faculty to maintain independent community living.
