About Russell F. Thackston

Russell Thackston is a faculty member at Georgia Southern University in the Department of Information Technology. He earned his PhD in computer science and software engineering from Auburn University.

His current research interests -- focusing on cloud computing from the consumer perspective, specifically with regard to developing low-cost, on-demand solutions -- has been published in the Journal of Quantum Chemistry and the Journal of Computational Chemistry. His dissertation research focused on software process and effort estimation, specifically with regard to individual software engineers and microISVs.

Russell earned his master’s degree in computer information systems from Georgia State University and his undergraduate degree in management information systems from Georgia Southern University. His work on SISE — an effort estimation model tailored to individuals — has been published in Crosstalk, the Journal of Defense Software Engineering and his research into microISVs has been published in IEEE’s IT Pro.

Russell, a Statesboro native, has been married to wife, Laura, for over 25 years and has a daughter, Amanda.
