Emeritus Professor, Graduate Psychology and Counseling
Rudolph N Bailey is a professor of Educational and School Psychology at Andrews University. Dr Bailey was born in St Vincent, West Indies of East Indian ancestry. He emigrated to England as a teenager and attended Dunstable College of Further Education in Dunstable, Bedfordahire. After a stint as a lab assistant in a plastics factory he went to Newbold College where he earned a BA in Theology. Instead of taking up the ministry, he decided to be become a psychologist and obtained an MA in Psychology of Education from the University of London. He has also earned an MA in Development and Educational Psychology from Andrews University, read for a Ph.D at the University of London but due to family circumstances moved to Canada and finished a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at Andrews University.
Dr Bailey is married with two grown children and one granddaughter. He researches with his son Dr Karl Bailey in the COG lab at Andrews University. His grown daughter lives in Alberta, Canada and is an assistant librarian at Canadian University College. Dr Bailey was a School Psychologist and a licensed psychologist in Alberta Canada for 22 years. He is also a certified teacher and taught in the K-12 system for 3 years. He is a registered school psychologist in Alberta, and a certified school psychologist in Michigan and Washington State. In January of 1997, he moved to College Place, Washington and taught psychology and special education courses at Walla Walla College (Now Walla Walla University). In 2001 he moved with his wife to Andrews University where he is presently the Chair of the Department of Graduate Psychology and Counseling in the School of Education. Dr Bailey loves to travel and accepts invitations to speak at international conferences whenever possible. Dr Bailey has an active research agenda.
