About Roy Villafane

Roy Villafane compares computing to playing with modular toys, using various basic building blocks to build infinitely many things, and shares this enthusiasm with students. Prior to working at Andrews University he worked at Symantec Corporation as a Software Engineer and also worked in Information Technology for various departments at the University of Central Florida. He enjoys teaching courses on a variety of computing topics. While his favorite hobby is also computing, he enjoys "transportation sports" (that go beyond manipulating a ball in a rectangular area) such as cycling and rollerblading, and likes conversations on solving the world's problems.
Roy Villafane's research interests are in the areas of data mining, high performance computing, distributed computing, operating systems, and other general/multimedia data manipulation and computer systems areas. He has published various papers in these areas.
