About Ross Louis

Ross Louis is a performance scholar/artist who works as a Professor of Communication Studies at Xavier University of Louisiana (New Orleans, USA). He is a founding co-director of the Performance Studies Laboratory, which studies and produces interdisciplinary performance from sources such as literature, cultural ritual, political action, and visual culture. He earned his Ph.D. and M.A. in performance studies at Louisiana State University, where he studied the performativity of language acquisition and pedagogy in the context of international migration. His recent performance work includes an adaptation of Richard Wright’s haiku (This Other World) and a series of site-specific performances in New Orleans and Montréal based on Georges Perec’s An Attempt at Exhausting a Place in Paris. His recent scholarly and creative work has appeared in Text and Performance Quarterlyand Global Performance Studies.
