During the 12th World Leisure Congress (held in Rimini, Italy), the Commission on Accessibility and Inclusion organised two sessions, one dedicated to empowering capacity and the second focused on understanding the global aspects of using the US National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) credentialing framework in other countries. To this end, the question at issue for the commission was: Is the US NCTRC an appropriate credentialing framework for professionals in different countries who are dedicated to working with people with disabilities/special needs in the area of accessibility, inclusion and therapeutic recreation? The purpose of this paper is to summarise the work of the commission.
