About Robin Miller, M.F.A.

Charles Robin Miller is a Professor of Theatre at Harding University in Searcy AR.  He has served as a full-time faculty member there since 1980.  He was the director of the Theatre program until the Fall of 2011. At that time, he became the first Chair of the newly formed Department of Theatre.  In 2017, he returned to full-time classroom responsibilities.  He co-founded the Searcy Summer Dinner Theatre with Dr. Morris Ellis and shared leadership responsibilities for SSDT for several years.

Mr. Miller's areas of specialization include directing, performance, physical acting, artistic direction, voice, and musical theatre.  He has taught courses in these areas as well as in lighting, sewing, painting, technical direction, make-up, stage combat, world drama, and Shakespearian acting.

Directing is his specialty.  To date, he has directed or been the Artistic Director for over 100 plays and musicals.  He has directed over 25 Homecoming Musicals for Harding University.  Additionally, Mr. Miller specializes in adapting theatrical and non-theatrical literature for the stage. His latest adaptation was “Antigone,” which was based on the ancient Greek script. His latest pre-scripted show to direct was “Miss Bennet Christmas at Pemberley.”  It was highly successful and played to a sold-out audience each performance.

In addition to performance, Mr. Miller is also active in technical theatre. He has recently completed scenic design and scenic painting for “The Rivals”, served as Master Electrician for “The Game’s Afoot,” and is the Scenic Artist for “The Importance of Being Earnest” in the Ulrey Performing Arts Center.
