About Roberto Refinetti

Coming to Boise State from the University of South Carolina where he was an academic dean from 2006-2014. Dr. Refinetti received his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of California – Santa Barbara, an M.A. in Experimental Psychology and a B.S. in Psychology from the University of São Paulo, and a B.A. in Philosophy from Pontifical Catholic University in Brazil. Since 1985 Dr. Refinetti has worked in institutions of higher learning, 25 of those years were spent as a faculty member. He was dubbed the South Carolina Governor’s Distinguished Professor in 2004 and in 2006 received a Carolina Trustee Professorship. While his primary research focus is with biological psychology, particularly biological rhythms, he also has other interests and abilities within languages and cultures, the arts, and computer science to name a few. He is also a current member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Association for Psychological Science, and the American Physiological Society among others, and has done various outreach including pro bono consultation for various magazines and news outlets, general audience presentations and grade school outreach, and maintains the Circadian Rhythm Laboratory.
