Abstract
The nature of the questions originally sent to us by the editors of this book as prompts for reflection upon the ways in which Peter McLaren has influenced our pedagogy has led me to an almost autobiographical account of both my epistemological and ontological development as a scholar. This has been a helpful process and experience for me as I contemplate a career that began in technicism and is now charged with and revitalized by more critical understandings of teaching, learning and literacy. Peter has undoubtedly contributed greatly to my emerging criticity and determination to demand more of myself and of my students since I began my professional transformation that is described below.
