AbstractThis paper, presented at the Eastern Economic Association in 1999, assesses the impact of globalization on the US labor market. It describes the numerous channels by which trade could have negatively impacted US wages and concludes that the current conventional wisdom that trade has not had a negative impact is not particularly robust.
