Abstract

This chapter delineates a cognitive-behavioral model of crisis intervention for the practicing clinician in the medical setting. This goal is achieved by discussing the crisis patient, the nature of the crises, the most common precipitants of crises in the medical patient, cognitive-behavioral techniques of crisis intervention, and a case study to illustrate these principles.
