About Robert Vinson


Before arriving at William & Mary in 2006, Professor Vinson taught for four years at Washington University in St. Louis. His primary research interests include South African History, African American History and African Diaspora History. Professor Vinson is the author of The Americans Are Coming!: Dreams of African American Liberation in Segregationist South Africa. He has been awarded the William & Mary Teaching Excellence Award and the Phi Beta Kappa Teaching Excellence Award, and he currently holds a William & Mary Cummings Endowed Professorship. Professor Vinson is also the founding co-director of the Lemon Project at William & Mary. At W & M, Professor Vinson enjoys “teaching and mentoring such bright and enthusiastic students!”
