About Robert Kluger

Dr. Kluger joined the University of Louisville Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering faculty in 2018. His area of focus is transportation engineering with an emphasis on traffic safety and intelligent transportation systems. Previous to his faculty appointment, he was an Eisenhower Graduate Research Fellow in the Office of Operations Research at the FHWA, and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Arizona. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Virginia. All interested students are welcome to reach out via e-mail.

Teaching Interests
Dr. Kluger has experience teaching key courses in traffic engineering, statistical methods and econometrics, data mining, urban planning, engineering economics, and field engineering. Current courses offered include Field Engineering and Urban Planning.

Research Interests
Dr. Kluger's research interests are primarily focused on utilizing traffic data, sensor data, and vehicle data to conduct novel approaches to safety analysis. Previous research projects have explored using traffic sensors, such as loop detectors, and vehicle-based sensors, such as vehicle trajectories and connected vehicle messages.These data sources were utilized to model risk, crash likelihood, and other key aspects of traditional safety research.
