About Robert A. Aken

Robert Aken has served as a Reference Librarian, Coordinator of Bibliographic Instruction, Coordinator of Automated Reference Services, Coordinator of Reference Collection Development, Electronic Information Resources Librarian, Web Administration Librarian, Head of Reference, Bibliographer for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (now Kinesiology and Health Promotion); and English, and LibGuides Administrator, all during his career at the University of Kentucky Libraries between 1983 and the present. He also served a Coordinator of Reference Services at the College of William and Mary in 1988.
He is the co-editor of the Notable Kentucky African Americans Database and created and maintains the following Research Guides:
