About Richard E. Day

Dr Richard E Day is an Associate Professor of Educational Foundations at Eastern Kentucky University. He joined the Curriculum & Instruction faculty in 2007 as a visiting lecturer following a 31-year career in Kentucky public schools, 25 years of which were spent in school administration. He previously taught at the University of Kentucky and Georgetown College.
Dr Day was recognized for his Outstanding Scholarship during the 2010-2011 Academic Year, by EKU's College of Education.
His 2003 Dissertation, "Each Child, Every Child: The Story of the Council for Better Education, Equity and Adequacy in Kentucky Schools" received the Dissertation of the Year award from the Education Law Association.
He has published in the Register of the Kentucky Historical Society, the American Educational History Journal, the Journal of Negro Education and the Researcher."Education Reform in Kentucky: Just what the Court Ordered," co-authored by Jo Ann Ewalt, appears in Kentucky Government, Politics, and Public Policy, which received the Thomas D. Clark Medallion for its "high standards of excellence" in a volume that addresses a "wide breadth of interests about the Bluegrass State (University Press of Kentucky, 2014).
He presently serves as member of the EKU Faculty Senate and a member of its Executive Committee.
His influential blog, Kentucky School News & Commentary, is widely read in state education circles.
