Experimental Treatment of Phobias by Systematic Desensitization
Psychological Reports (1968)
  • Richard Dana, Portland State University
Abstract

Fear of height was treated by systematic desensitization in E-administered, self-administered, and control interview conditions. Ss were college women, 2 per group, selected with measures which indicated intensity and range of fears. Post-training and post-therapy evaluations suggested that self-applied desensitization apparently reduced phobic behavior.
