Abstract

Ss were 120 college males, in 12 equal groups, representing high, medium, and low conditions on MMPI scales, Anxiety, Control, Hostility, and Social Introversion-Extroversion (SI-E). 7 PO components were scored: Card Description (CD), Present Behavior (PB), Past Events (PE), Future Events (FE), Feeling (F), Thought (T), and Outcome (O). Chi squares for original and combined groups were run between each of the seven TAT PO (Perceptual Organization) components (and total PO) and combinations of the 3 conditions for the 4 MMPI variables. Consistent, significant relationships obtained for high FE and total PO with low SI E and for high F, T, and low O components with high Control. Relationships of Anxiety and Hostility to PO components were less pronounced. The possible meanings of several PO components in terms of SI E and Control were related to total PO as a measure of psychological adjustment. Due to the small number of significant relationships cross validation is mandatory.
