About Richard Painter

Richard Painter is an assistant professor in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Western University.



Dr. Painter joined the child and adolescent psychiatry faculty at Western shortly after completing subspecialty training at Western University in 2019. He currently divides his time seeing patients at the London Health Sciences Centre and the First Episode Mood and Anxiety Program (FEMAP). Dr. Painter’s clinical practice is specialized towards treatment of youth with emotion dysregulation difficulties. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Painter is highly involved with medial education at Western University. He routinely supervises medical students and residents interested in psychotherapy and personality dynamics. He is currently serving in roles as psychotherapy lead for the department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and as assessment lead. Dr. Painter was honoured to receive an award for 2019-20 as Supervisor of the Year in Undergraduate Education in the Department of Psychiatry from Western University.

Dr. Painter is grateful for the ongoing opportunities to work with youth and their families in a compassionate, genuine, and meaningful manner towards their goals in the treatment of mental health problems.
