About Richard Cimino

Dr. Cimino is an engineering educator in the ExEED department at Rowan University who received his PhD in Chemical Engineering at Rutgers University. Dr. Cimino teaches freshman and sophomore level engineering clinics, which aim to provide all Rowan’s engineering students with a firm grounding in engineering principles that they can take with them into their major-specific classrooms and beyond. Dr. Cimino’s research interests include engineering ethics and teaching effective ethical decision making, implicit bias and classroom dynamics, and LGBTQ visibility and integration in engineering. In particular, he is interested in the impact of cultural and social diversity on ethical perspectives in the engineering classroom, in both individual and group settings. He is also interested in how these perspectives translate into student behavior in the professional world after graduation. Current research includes 1.) a longitudinal study on engineering ethical decision making and 2.) a study of implicit bias in ethical decision making in the engineering classroom.
