Abstract

These formulations were developed to protect our collective bodies from a radically changing world and encourage shared capacity for collective creativity, experimentation, and transformation.
As the largest organ in the human body, the skin performs many essential functions that help ensure our well-being. Of these, the most important is providing protection against the multitude of harmful stressors we encounter every day. As vital beings, each of us has the right to nurture ourselves and defend against the effects of environmental toxins and inflammatory agents. The INDEX movement stresses the importance of sharing experiences and engaging in a collective examination of our everyday lives and problems. Through consciousness-raising and the refusal to separate politics from our bodies, we create forms of organization that build trust and demonstrate that our strength is rooted in our mutual solidarity. INDEX seeks to aid in your SELF CARE INTERVENTION by providing a nourishing boundary to both protect and unite our collective beings.
We must not forget that we come to the movement with many scars and fears. We must not forget that all of us bear on our bodies and minds the marks of living within overlapping and interdependent systems of discrimination and disadvantage. The promise of joy comes from the exercise of reason and understanding across divergent spheres of experience. As we trust in science-based models, we yet look to older, non-binary biological models for a deeper level of knowledge and inspiration that can facilitate our health and communication not just around the globe but across geologic time scales.
