Abstract

The purpose of this article is to describe how practicing school nurses can apply the basic tenets of Orem’s Self-Care DeficitNursing Theory to children with special health care needs and demonstrate its applicability in the school setting. Children with disability are identified as individual members of a vulnerable population whose status is considered within a framework of self-care.
