About Rebecca Davis

Rebecca Davis is an associate professor in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology, where she has taught since 1994. She holds an M.A. from Georgia Southern University and a J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law. Davis is the founding and current director of Georgia Southern University’s Office of Pre-Law Advising. She serves as the Georgia Chair for the National Association of Women Judges, and is on the executive board of the Southern Association of Pre-Law Advisors.
Davis’ scholarship focuses on judicial biography and Fourth Amendment issues. Her latest biography, Justice Leah Ward Sears: Seizing Serendipity, was published in September 2017 by the University of Georgia Press. Davis co-authored the biography Judge Faye Sanders Martin: Head Full of Sense, Heart Full of Gold(Mercer University Press) and has published articles in the Georgia Historical QuarterlyThe Justice ProfessionalPolicing: an International Journal of Police Strategies & Management, and the Georgia State Bar Journal.
