Abstract
As librarians, we understand that integrating instruction strategically, aligning instructional content with assignment requirements, and offering point-of-need instruction all increase the effectiveness of library instruction and enhance development and retention of information literacy skills. However, the ability to provide instruction at these strategic points is often out of our control. Class schedules, lab schedules, library schedules, and resource availability are just some of the outside factors that impact our ability to integrate instruction effectively. And many librarians would probably agree that most students do not consult printed handouts once they have left our classroom.
