Abstract
This study was concerned with philosophy and The Logic of Collective Action in African agriculture with a view to provide new knowledge and foresight capabilities in African agriculture.  New knowledge and foresight capabilities are an urgent need in Africa’s transformation.  The study was located within multiple research paradigms, viz., the analytical paradigm, the pragmatic paradigm, the interpretivist and positivist paradigm, the historical paradigm, the scientific paradigm, and mixed method research, which were used to determine the suitability of philosophy and The Logic of Collective Action in African agriculture.  A Conceptual Framework centered on three I’s: Identify, Interpret, and Institute, was used to process and analyze available knowledge and foresight capabilities in African agriculture.  The study established that philosophy and The Logic of Collective Action are a formidable source of new knowledge and foresight capabilities in African agriculture.  The study also proposed an African Agrarian philosophy.  The study was confined to the knowledge on established facts, and hence, did not present new collected data.  Instead, the study sought to provoke dialogue and discussions centered on African agriculture, as part of Africa’s transformation.  The study can be used as reference material in discussions on Africa’s transformation.  The study offered new ways to apply the knowledge from philosophy and The Logic of Collective Action in African agriculture.  The research methodology used in this study can be translated to other subject of interest.  The research methodology used in the study was chosen for its pragmatic emphasis and philosophical strengths.
