About Raúl Ordóñez

My research focuses on nonlinear systems, nonlinear control, and the connection of control tools and concepts to related areas such as coordinated behavior of autonomous robots, image processing, intelligent sensing and optimization. I have sought to build a link between nonlinear control and robotics, encompassing applications such as bipedal humanoid-like motion, control of air vehicles, and vision-based control of electro-mechanical systems. My recent research on Extremum Seeking Control attempts to merge the traditionally disjoint areas of control and optimization, and to create a theoretical framework for intelligent decision-making in autonomous systems.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES:
• Associate Editor for the Journal Automatica in the area of intelligent control since Feb 2006.
• Member of the IEEE and its Control Systems Society.
• Technical Program Committee, 2011 IEEE Multi-conference on Systems and Control.
• Publications Chair, 2008 IEEE Multi-conference on Systems and Control.
• Associate Editor, Conference Editorial Board of the IEEE Control Systems Society.
• Publicity Chair, 2001 International Symposium on Intelligent Control.
• Member of the Program Committee for the 2001 Conference on Decision and Control.
