About Rasha Khatib, Ph.D, MHS

Rasha Khatib, Ph.D., MHS, is a Research Scientist, Academic Research and Strategic Partnership, Advocate Aurora Research Institute (AARI). Her research focuses on preventing primary and secondary cardiovascular disease through translating evidence into clinical practice. Dr. Khatib leverages data from electronic health records at large community health care systems to evaluate concordance with clinical practice guidelines as well as developing, implementing and evaluating interventions to improve patient outcomes utilizing Implementation Science Principles. Dr. Khatib is particularly interested in addressing racial and ethnic disparities in the primary care setting including increasing the adoption of health information technology tools and interventions. Dr. Khatib is highly published with over 70 peer-reviewed journal publications. She is a site PI for the Prospective Urban Rural Epidemiology (PURE) study, the largest global prospective cohort study examining health behaviors and health outcomes related to cardiovascular disease, and has several high impact journal publications including her first-authored publication in The Lancet on the availability and affordability of medications for the prevention of cardiovascular events in 18 countries. Dr. Khatib received her Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Biology at Earlham College, her Masters in Health Sciences with a focus on Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and her Ph.D. in Clinical Epidemiology at McMaster University.
