Abstract
Morphological selection and texture evolution is investigated in aluminum-silicon eutectics, grown at low velocity. It is found that rapid lateral growth of the angular star-shaped structures results in complete <001> texturing within the first 40 mm of growth. The details of the resulting growth morphologies are discussed.
