About Ralph D. Mawdsley

Ralph D. Mawdsley became a faculty member at Cleveland State University in 1991 and taught course in School Law, Sports Law, and Special Education Law. He published 22 books and over 500 articles and book chapters in the field of education law. In 2005, he was a Fulbright Scholar in South Africa, where he was appointed visiting Professor of Law and Education at the University of Pretoria. In 2007, he was awarded a Sir Allan Sewell Visiting Professor Fellowship and was appointed Visiting Professor of Education and Law at Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia. Also in 2007, he was appointed Visiting Professor of Education Law, Northwest University, Vaal Triangle, South Africa. The Cleveland State University College of Education and Human Services in 2008 appointed Dr. Mawdsley as the first recipient of the Roslyn Z. Wolf Endowed Chair in Urban Educational Leadership. In 2009, Dr. Mawdsley was the recipient of a Fulbright Senior Specialist Award and served as Visiting Professor of Law, Queensland University of Technology Faculty of Law and Griffith University School of Education, Brisbane Australia. Dr. Mawdsley was a frequent speaker at law conferences in the United States and other countries. He wa an active participant in the American Education Association (ELA), the South Africa Education Law Association (SAELA), and the Australia/New Zealand Education Law Association (ANZELA). Dr. Mawdsley was the President of ELA in 2001 and received in 2004 its Marion McGhehey Award for outstanding service to the field of education law.
