Abstract

This study explores eight teacher narratives related to pre-trip preparation for the 2018 South Korea Research Trip sponsored by the Korean War Legacy Foundation (KWLF). The trip is an annual event, entering its 4th year, that immerses primary, secondary and post-secondary teachers in Korean culture. Utilising Narrative Inquiry, we explored participants’ attraction to immersive educational experiences, the value perspective of participants who seek out immersive experiences weighed against the own curriculum requirements and, how preparing for this immersive experience contributed in shaping their personal practical knowledge. As teachers explore their own educative curriculum, personal practical knowledge developed by learning from the past, contextualising the present and informing the future.
