Looking closer - Forensic nursing
Nursing Management (2008)
  • Rachel Harriss PhD RN, St. Catherine University
Abstract
Forensic nurses, through education and experience provide services in multiple settings.  What is missing however is an understanding of the scope of practice of forensic nurses.  Through an understanding of the myriad of domains of forensic nursing practice and the unique set of skills possessed by forensic nurses, nurse leaders can be instrumental in the design, development, and implementation of forensic nursing roles across practice domains.  By doing so, nurse leaders will foster comprehensive care to victims and perpetrators, promulgate protection of organizations from allegations of abuse, negligence, and malpractice, and promote an environment of care that recognizes and attends to the complexities of our current society.
