About Prue Cormie

Dr Prue Cormie is a Senior Research Fellow at the Edith Cowan University Health and Wellness Institute in Perth, WA and an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with Exercise and Sport Science Australia. She completed postgraduate training in the USA and Australia (PhD awarded November 2009) and currently holds a competitively funded 3 year research fellowship from the Cancer Council WA. Dr Cormie has produced influential research exploring the efficacy of exercise in counteracting adverse side effects experienced by people with cancer. This work is advancing the field of exercise oncology by identifying the optimal use of exercise as an adjunct therapy to improve clinical outcomes and quality of life in cancer patients/survivors. Her research outputs include: >$2.2 million in competitive research funding as chief investigator (NHMRC, Cancer Australia, Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, Cancer Council WA, Cancer Council QLD and industry); 42 refereed journal publications (63% as first or senior author) for a total citation count of 1,323 and a H-index of 21; 4 book chapters; 1 monograph; >80 refereed conference proceedings/abstracts; and 12 invited presentations (5 keynote) at national and international conferences.
