Professor of Law
Professor Taite teaches a combination of Federal Income Tax, Wills, Trusts & Estates, and Property-based courses. Her teaching package may also include Estate & Gift Tax, and seminar courses with an emphasis on income and wealth inequalities and other social justice issues. She has over 18 years of teaching experience and continues to teach with a passion that brings out excitement and interest to otherwise difficult subjects.
Professor Taite focuses her scholarship on leading issues in tax policy and social justice. Her articles are published in law reviews across the nation and most recently in the University of Florida Tax Review, University of South Carolina Law Review, and Pepperdine Law Review. Her contributions are timely and her articles have been cited by leading tax scholars. She is also a regular contributor to Jotwell and Tax Notes, a leading provider of tax news and analysis for the global community, and a new contributor to Tax Stringer.
Further, Professor Taite has served as a speaker, panelist, and commentator at a number of national conferences. Most recently, she has served as an invited speaker to the Florida Tax Institute, University of Florida, Levin College of Law Colloquium Series, ACTEC Florida Fellows Conference, the University of South Carolina Virtual Symposium on Taxation, Finance, and Racial Justice, the Vermont Bar Association CLE on Tax and Social Justice and the Philadelphia Bar Association CLE on the Intersection of Race and Taxes.
Furthermore, Professor Taite is committed to service. She serves on committees including the Legal Education Committee for the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), Florida Bar Probate Rules Committee, Tax Section of the Florida Bar and previously served on the Florida Continuing Legal Education Committee and as a director of the Florida A&M University Foundation. She has memberships in numerous professional organizations including Academic Fellow of ACTEC, Real Property and Probate Section of the Florida Bar, The Florida Bar, and the American Bar Association. She is admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces and the State Bar of Florida.
Prior to teaching, Professor Taite served eight years as a commissioned officer and attorney in the United States Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG). As a JAG officer, she provided estate planning needs and tax assistance to soldiers and officers serving throughout the country and overseas.
Professor Taite is the proud mother of Dominique and Jordan who are her motivation to be the best mother, professor, and attorney she can be.
