About Myounghoon Jeon (Philart)

I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering and the Department of Computer Science (by courtesy) at Virginia Tech. I'm also an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Cognitive and Learning Sciences and the Department of Computer Science at Michigan Technological University. Previously, I served as a director of the Center for Human-Centered Computing at ICC (Institute of Computing and Cybersystems) at Michigan Tech. My Mind Music Machine (tri-M) Lab research is focused on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Human-Robot Interaction (HRI), Auditory Displays, Affective Computing, Assistive Technologies, Aesthetic Computing, and Automotive Interface Design. Previously, I worked at LG Electronics and was responsible for all of their automotive user interface design and sound design.

Currently, I serve as a President of the International Community for Auditory Display (ICAD), Associate Editor of International Journal of Human-Computer Studies and MIT Journal Presence, and also Senior Editor of Ergonomics in Design. I've been actively working in international conferences as a session/program chair, program committee, and workshop organizer (ICAD, Automotive UI, HFES, CHI, Mobile HCI, UbiComp, PersuasiveTech, etc.). My research has been supported by NIH, NSF, DOT, MDOT, FRA, KATRI, MTTI (Michigan Tech Transportation Institute), ICC, and industry partners. I've led many other industry projects in collaboration with Toyota, Hyundai-Kia Motors, General Electric, Samsung Electronics, Equos Research, and Panasonic Automotive.
