About Petra A Robinson

Petra A. Robinson, Ph.D.
Dr. Petra A. Robinson works alongside the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Chair in Education as a Research Associate in the Graduate School of Education in the department of Educational Psychology at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. She earned her Bachelors degree and Masters in International Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University and her Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Human Resource Development (HRD) from Texas A&M University. Her research has focused on issues related to social justice in education, colorism, international adult education, and workforce and faculty development. Her dissertation, Skin Bleaching in Jamaica: A Colonial Legacy, captured the narrative experiences of men and women engaging in the practice of skin bleaching in Jamaica. She has presented her work at several national and international conferences including conferences in Jamaica, South Africa and the United Kingdom.
Dr. Robinson has several years international HRD experience and has taught courses in Organizational Development and Human Resource Development at Texas A&M University. In 2007, she was awarded the prestigious Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy Fellowship in addition to the Texas A&M University Board of Regent’s Fellowship. Additionally, she has received several student research awards and was inducted in several honors societies including: Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society, Kappa Delta Pi International Honors Society and the Sigma Beta Delta Honors Society.
Dr. Robinson currently serves as a reviewer for the Academy of Management Annual Meeting and for the Adult Learning Journal.
