About Peter Gavin Ferriby

Gavin Ferriby serves as University Librarian at Sacred Heart University.  As a librarian, he leads librarians who enact the teaching mission of the University through daily decisions about resources, projects, and services. He seeks to align the strategic directions of the University with the rapidly transforming field of librarianship.  As a teacher, he seeks to engage undergraduates with the questions, achievements, and tensions of American religions.  As a scholar, he seeks to understand how to transmit and shape the manuscript and print legacy of Christian history through digital scholarship and libraries.  He is committed to the historic values of librarianship: openness, generosity and trust, and to questioning many current assumptions about the values and means of digital culture.
