Abstract
Chansons d'Acadie is a collection of 566 songs published in 11 volumes from 1942 to 1993, gathered by Anselme Chiasson and Daniel Boudreau. This paper explores the collection through the lens of a Kodály-inspired meta-analysis of the notation. The study hints at the repertoire's potential as a resource for use in musicianship education. This form of basic scalar, chromatic, and metrical tabulation of musical components can serve as a template for assessing other music traditions and repertoires, albeit repertoires that can be encoded in the Western notation system, for their potential integration within a formalized music curriculum to reach wider audiences of learners.
