Abstract
Video:

Perry Bechky and Dan Fisher-Owens, two experienced practitioners, present a webinar about the various ways that US sanctions and export controls can affect New Zealand businesses.

They introduce US sanctions and export controls with special reference to recent developments on hot topics like China and Russia.  Then they discuss the topic of “secondary sanctions” – sanctions that the US Government imposes against companies that do business with the main targets of its sanctions, like Cuba, Iran, and Russia.  They also discuss how major banks and other companies require their borrowers and customers to comply with US sanctions and export controls.  Finally, they close with practical thoughts about compliance.
