About Patrick Ring

Dr Patrick John Ring is a financial services academic specialising in risk, pensions, regulation and personal finance.
He is qualified solicitor who has practised in corporate law as well as in the financial services sector, managing a team of solicitors for a large insurance company.
For the last 15 years he has worked in academia where he has spent a significant amopunt of his time establishing and developing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes designed for graduates wanting to work in the financial services sectors - including banking, wealth management, corporate finance and risk in financial services. These programmes have gained significant accreditation from professional bodies as well as being recognised by industry for their innovation. He has lectured extensively in Scotland, London and overseas. He is currently Director of Studies for 5 PhD students, as well as being on the supervisory panel for a number of others.
Dr Ring has a reputation as a business-oriented academic, and works with a growing network of academic and business specialists. His research specialisms include pensions, regulation of financial services, and (operational) risk in financial services. His particular areas of expertise in these contexts include issues of trust, security and risk, retail consumers and the advice sector, and people/culture risk.
