Abstract
Discusses and illustrates an inserted single leaf with a version of "The Land o' the Leal," beginning "I'm wearin' awa, Jean" (not John), headed "Burns's Deathbed Song," pasted into a copy of Burns's Poems ... in Two Volumes Edinburgh: Creech 1793), summarizes the stages by which the song was publicly attributed to Carolina Oliphant, Lady Nairne, now the consensus attribution, and narrows down when the song was first printed as by Burns, noting newspaper appearances with the attribution in 1809.
