Abstract
Introduces the special issue on the influential Scottish poet and critic Hugh MacDiarmid, briefly sketches the personal connections between SSL's founder Ross Roy and C. M. Grieve (Hugh MacDiamid), who was one of the journal's original board members, and reviews the treatment discussions of MacDiamid's work in SSL over the past 60 years.
