Abstract
Introduction to journal issue, with brief tributes to three respected Scottish literature scholars, Colin Manlove (1942-2019), of the University of Edinburgh, best known for his work on George MacDonald, Aileen Christianson (1945-2020), also of the University of Edinburgh, known both for her work on the Carlyle letters and as an active advocate for Scottish women writers, and Douglas Gifford (1942-2020), known for his work on Scottish fiction of all periods, as an influential editor, and as a pioneer in the reassessment of Scottish Victorian writing.
