Abstract
Review of the first volume in the new multivolume Oxford Edition of Robert Burns: Commonplace Books, Tour Journals and Miscellaneous Prose, ed. Nigel Leask (Oxford, 2014), describing the edition, praising it both for its new research and as exemplary in its balanced perspective on earlier scholarship, and concluding that it constitutes not only a valuable work of scholarly reference but also a good and readable introduction to Burns's literary career.
