About Patrick Novotny

Professor Novotny received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1995 and has been a faculty member at Georgia Southern since then. He teaches and researches in the field of American politics, with a general focus on Georgia political history, political parties, and politics and the media. Novotny’s research has been published in journals such as the Harvard International Journal of Press/PoliticsThe Georgia Historical Quarterly, and Social Science Computer Review.  His latest book, This Georgia Rising: Education, Civil Rights, And The Politics Of Elections In Georgia In The 1940s, was published with Mercer University Press in 2007.  He has recently completed a book manuscript on the study of qualitative research methodology in Political Science and is currently completing another book manuscript on the history of politics and the media in American political history from the 18th Century through the present.
