About Patrick Donnelly

Patrick Donnelly is a professor of Sociology. He earned his doctorate from the University of Delaware, joined the faculty in 1979 and has twice served as chair of the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work. He also served the University as Associate Provost for Faculty and Administrative Affairs from 2010 to 2015. His areas of special interest are criminology, law and society, and community.

His recent research has focused on crime and violence in urban areas, particularly Dayton. In recent years, he has worked with a community-wide collaborative, the Violence Prevention Program, to address various ways of reducing violence.
