Abstract

Fall risk in the United States elderly population is high. Many older adults experience falls and the consequences of falls can range from minor bruises to significant head trauma and death. The vestibular system has a significant influence on fall prevention, but reducing fall risk goes beyond just the vestibular system and often an interdisciplinary approach can be utilized. This session will explore various consequences for injurious falls, bedside tests to evaluation fall prevention, and recommendations to reduce fall risk.
